Herbal supplementation has become an integral part of heatlhcare today.  Many things need to be considered when buying herbal supplementation.  As of yet, the FDA does not require any standardization in the manufacturing process for over the counter vitamins and herbs.  It is therefore VITAL that the patient know and understand the product they are purchasing. 

Many environmental factors can affect the herbal environment in which the product is grown.  Weather, for example, plays a crucial role in the outcome of the product.  If the product was grown under extremely dry or wet conditions, the herb may be lacking essential nutrients needed from the soil.  Likewise, if the product is manufactured with chemical pesticides and preservatives, they may then be passed on to the herb.
